Designer Amsale was born in Ethiopia and came to the United States to study commercial art. While supporting herself through undergrad she started to make her own clothing. It was at that time she became interested in fashion design. She never expected to become a fashion designer, especially with world fame like she has today. Amsale moved to New York to purse fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology. A few years after completing her degree she launched her first bridal collection.
Amsale contributes to the Huffington Post under her Ask Amsale blog. She uses the blog as a way to connect with brides throughout the world and answer their wedding dress questions. Her Kenneth Pool label creates a collection of sexy, opulent, and unapologetic glamour. The Kenneth Pool bride commands the spotlight with her over the top wedding dress covered in fine silks and crystals. All silk texture and beadwork is hand-sewn to bring the highest couture finish.
Aberra has created couture designs for celebrities such as Halle Berry, Julia Roberts, Selma Blair, Salma Hayek, Lucy Liu, Vivica A. Fox, Heather Graham, Lisa Kudrow, Katherine Heigl, Kim Basinger, Heidi Klum, and many others. Amsale designed the wedding gown for Hilary Baldwin’s wedding to actor Alec Baldwin in June 2012. She has twice been included on Ebony magazine’s “Power 150” list of the 150 most influential African Americans.
